Car crashes into building, driver runs; former restaurant, apartments condemned
A building at North Limestone and Constitution Street with apartments and a vacant business site was deemed unsafe after a car crashed into it early Monday.
The driver ran from the scene.
The building at 227 North Limestone, which has several apartments and previously housed Lexington Pasta Company, was stabilized by firefighters as police worked to get information from the white Nissan that might lead to the owner, police Sgt. Ann Welch said.
The building was condemned as structurally unsafe for people to live in, fire Battalion Chief Joe Best said. Gas and electricity were cut off.
WKYT reported that Lexington Pasta, now on Delaware Avenue, had planned to renovate the building for a new business venture.
