Man, 23, found shot in Lexington intersection has died
A 23-year-old man found shot in the neck in a Lexington intersection died Tuesday night at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, according to the Fayette County coroner's office.
Derek S. Pelphrey was shot while sitting in a vehicle at Ridgepoint Run and Spangler Drive. Pelphrey got out of the car and collapsed in the intersection, Lexington police Lt. David Biroschik said Tuesday night.
A passing motorist found Pelphrey just before 9 p.m. and called police, mistakenly thinking he had been hit by a vehicle.
Biroschik said police had not found any witnesses by 10 p.m.
"It is a dark location," he said. "There's no houses that are facing this scene."
