A man charged in the slaying of his girlfriend, whose body was found in a plastic bag, was sentenced to 20 years in prison Thursday.
Chico Duwan Rucker, 39, was convicted of second-degree manslaughter, tampering with evidence and fraudulent use of a credit card in the death of Elmia Farris, 32. Rucker and Farris were dating at the time of her death.
Rucker killed Farris on June 28 about 11 p.m.
Farris' body was found by an apartment manager on the 1800 block of Marietta Drive, off Anniston Drive in eastern Lexington, about a month later. The manager was working behind the building when he found a bag with a bad smell.
