Help police catch a man who stole from a Lexington church

Police are asking for your help to to catch someone who stole from a church. If you have information about either the Crime of the Week or the Suspect of the Week, do not try to take action on your own. Anonymous tips, including photos and videos, can be submitted by texting LEXPD plus the tip to CRIMES (274637). Crime of the Week

This week’s Crime of the Week is a burglary from a church.

About 4 p.m. July 3, a burglar pried open the rear door to the New Hope Church, 1112 Faith Street. The thief made his way to an office, where he pried open a lockbox and stole the church’s offerings that had been collected earlier that day.

Bluegrass Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the solving of this crime.

Suspect of the Week

This week’s Suspect of the Week is Derien Richardson, who is wanted on a charge of first-degree robbery. Richardson, 18, is described as black, 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds (see photo).
