U.S. Rep. Andy Barr will report that his campaign raised more than $400,000 in the third quarter of 2015, giving the Lexington Republican more than $1.1 million in cash on hand for his 2016 re-election campaign.

Barr doesn't yet have an opponent, but Kentucky Sports Radio host Matt Jones has said he is considering seeking the Democratic nomination for Kentucky's 6th Congressional District.

Barr cruised to re-election last year, beating Democrat Elisabeth Jensen by about 20 percentage points.

Jones has said he will decide on a run before the start of the 2015-2016 University of Kentucky basketball season.
