FRANKFORT — Vice President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton are scheduled to attend the funeral of Wendell Ford in Owensboro on Tuesday.

Former Democratic Party chairman Jerry Lundergan confirmed Monday that Clinton would attend the funeral, and the vice president's office confirmed Biden's plans. Biden and Clinton worked extensively with Ford when he was in the U.S. Senate.

Ford is the first person in Kentucky's history to be elected lieutenant governor, governor and U.S. senator. He died Thursday at his home in Owensboro at age 90.

Ford served four terms in the U.S. Senate after being elected governor of Kentucky.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church. A private ceremony for internment will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
