Tilting at windbags

Reading comments about Trump’s SOU speech reminded me of my mother’s favorite literary misquotation. While obviously not the original wording, she felt it shed light on many men who take up public life.

It was in reference to Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes, the part of the book that gave us the phrase, “tilting at windmills”.

Only in my mother’s version, Don Quixote (read Don Trump), “went to tilt at windmills and rode off in all directions”.

That’s Donald Trump; ignore the real danger to fight the imaginary.
