Listen to black women on Planned Parenthood

White men need to stop speaking for the African-American community as far as Planned Parenthood is concerned.

If they would do a survey and actually ask black women our opinion, the majority would say that Planned Parenthood is a blessing from God.

It has affected so many lives in a positive way. It required me to sit through a series of classes about women’s reproductive health and sexual health and responsibility when I was 18 years old before they would issue me a prescription for birth control. It provided my first gynecologist, discovering a benign tumor in my right breast in my early 20s.

How often have you ever heard a black minister stand up and say that this organization is devastating to the African-American community?

Probably never, because the majority of them know it saves lives in more ways than one. They know how important it is to the poor women of America.

White men have not earned the right to speak for black women. From 1776 until today, this country’s history regarding the relationship between black women and white men has not been good.
