The University of Kentucky is making rapid progress in laying down its new football turf in Commonwealth Stadium.

Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart posted a photo on his Twitter account Tuesday afternoon showing one end zone and much of the playing surface covered in the new synthetic turf. The first strip of turf was put in place last Thursday.

The field is scheduled to be fully installed by July.

The ongoing $120 million renovation of Commonwealth Stadium is expected to be complete in time for Kentucky's first game of the 2015 season on Sept. 5.
