UK special assistant to the head coach Joel Justus was the guest on This is Kentucky Basketball over the weekend, and he spoke about each of the Wildcats’ highly touted signees in the recruiting class of 2016.

Justus, a former high school basketball coach, helps UK with scouting and some aspects of recruiting, among other duties, and he relayed the coaching staff’s excitement over the next crop of five-star recruits.

On De’Aaron Fox: “When you talk about De’Aaron Fox, you talk about a lightning-fast floor general that’s really going to be exciting on the floor. And he’s going to be a guy who can score but also create for others.”

On Malik Monk: “(He) reminds our coaching staff a lot of a guy that Cal coached at Memphis, which was Derrick Rose. Explosive, great scorer who’s also a guy who can make his teammates better.”

On Wenyen Gabriel: “(He’s) a young man who has a tremendous motor but is also skilled. He can shoot from the outside and guard five positions on the floor.”

On Sacha Killeya-Jones: “He’s another long, tall, active post player that the Big Blue Nation has been accustomed to seeing. He’s a guy who will be more of a late-blooming guy, but he’s extremely skilled and can also play away from the basket or close to the basket.”

On Edrice “Bam” Adebayo: “He’s going to be a guy who will excite all of our fans, but will also be a great guy for (his teammates). Because he can be such a force on both ends of the floor.”

This is Kentucky Basketball airs on WKYT-27 every Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Click here to watch the full episode with Justus and all past episodes on WKYT.com.
