The future of the University of Kentucky basketball program was on full display at the Jordan Brand Classic in Brooklyn on Friday.

UK signees De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk shared most valuable player honors in the game, and Fox’s East squad defeated Monk’s West team 131-117 at Barclays Center.

Fox, who is expected to be UK’s starting point guard next season, scored 23 points and added five rebounds for the East. He started alongside future UK teammate Bam Adebayo, who tallied 15 points, five rebounds and three assists in the victory. Adebayo was 7-for-8 from the floor.

Monk was the leading scorer for the West with 22 points. He added five rebounds, three assists and a game-high three steals. UK signee Wenyen Gabriel chipped in with four points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals for the West team.

Also playing for the West was top UK recruiting target Marques Bolden, who had eight points, five rebounds and a game-high two blocked shots. Bolden — a 6-foot-11 center — did not announce his college decision during the game, but he is expected to do so sometime in the next few days.
