A Kentucky surprise: Juco defensive lineman Miggins signs with Cats
Junior-college defensive tackle Courtney Miggins signed with the University of Kentucky on Wednesday as a late addition to the Wildcats’ recruiting class of 2015.
Miggins — a 6-foot-5, 285-pound prospect — chose the Cats over N.C. State and Mississippi State. His commitment was a bit of a surprise, as UK was not considered the favorite going into national signing day.
247Sports ranks Miggins as a three-star recruit and the No. 45 prospect in the junior-college ranks. He played at Pearl River College in Mississippi and is originally from Lithonia, Ga.
“Courtney is an impact defensive lineman out of the junior-college ranks,” Coach Mark Stoops said in a release. “He has great size and quickness off the ball, the skills to come in and compete at a high level.”
Miggins will likely be expected to come in and make an immediate impact for the Cats in 2015.
