Miss Kentucky Pageant

Contestants from around the state will compete for the title of Miss Kentucky at the Singletary Center. Preliminary rounds are at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Finals are at 6 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $35 to $50. Singletarycenter.com.

Free Friday Flicks: 'The Greatest Showman'

The series of free outdoor movies wraps up its season Friday at Jacobson Park. Pre-movie activities, including children's games and a petting zoo, start at 7 p.m. The movie starts at dark. Summer Nights in Suburbia: Coralee and the Townies

The series of free outdoor concerts continues at 7 p.m. Friday at Moondance Amphitheater at 1152 Monarch Street. Food will be available for purchase. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. Lexingtonky.gov/summer-nights-suburbia.

Paint the Town

Artists will spend the day painting Lexington cityscapes on Saturday during Arts Connect’s annual plein air event. Artists will choose their own downtown location and paint in their own style from their unique perspective. That evening, the works will be displayed at a reception from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at ArtsPlace. Tickets for the reception are $25, which includes a drink, an opportunity to vote for People's Choice, and can be applied toward the purchase of an artwork during the event. Artconnectslex.org.

'Drinking Habits 2: Caught in the Act'

The Sisters of Perpetual Sewing are back for this sequel to last year's 'Drinking Habits' comedy at Pioneer Playhouse in Danville. This time, when the nuns stage a play to raise money, Sister Philomena and Sister Augusta secretly break out the grape press to make a little wine. Times are 7:30 p.m. for dinner and the show, 8:30 p.m. for the show only, Tuesdays through Saturdays through July 7. Tickets for the show only are $18 for adults, $10 for ages 12 and younger. Midsummer Nights in Midway

Downtown Midway will offer live music., food vendors, and children's activities from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday. Local shops and street vendors will stay open late. More Midsummer Nights are planned for July 27 and Aug. 24. Midwayrenaissance.com.
