Whether your prom was a gas or a bust, chances are it could have been even better on wheels.

That’s the idea behind the annual Bike Prom fundraiser hosted by the Living Arts and Science Center on Saturday. This year’s theme is “Sgt. Peppers” and riders are invited to roll around a downtown route dressed in their “fab-four best.”

The family-friendly event, now in its 10th year, is suitable for all levels of biking experience. Don’t have your own ride? Spin, the city’s bike-share program, will provide free bikes for riders to borrow for the prom.

Treats along the way will include prom-themed games, prom photos, refreshments, trivia, glam stations and a prom survival kit.

A prom king and queen and best-dressed prizes will be announced during the after-party at the LASC. A DJ will play Beatles tunes and refreshments from West Sixth Brewing and food truck fare will be available for purchase.

Registration is $15 and a $5 raffle can be purchased for a chance to win an Electra Townie 7D and a $40 gift certificate to Pedal Power.

Registration opens at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Living Arts and Science Center at 362 North Martin Luther King Boulevard. Riders will roll out at 5 p.m. Pre-register or reserve a Spin bike at 859-252-5222 or Lasclex.org.
