Keeneland Spring Meet
Through April 29. Gates open 11 a.m. First race 1:05 p.m. No racing Mondays and Tuesdays. Keeneland Race Course, 4201 Versailles Rd., Lexington. $5 general admission. 859-254-3412. Keeneland.com.
Tailgating on The Hill
Fridays and Saturdays at The Hill, next to the Keeneland Entertainment Center. Races shown on a jumbo screen, wagering, local food trucks, Keeneland Shop kiosk and free shuttles to the track. On Saturdays local bluegrass bands play noon-4 p.m.
Sunrise Trackside
7-8:30 a.m. Breakfast With the Works, breakfast and trackside commentary while horses train on the main track. 7-9 a.m. children’s activities in the Kids Club Corner. 8-10:30 a.m. guided walking tours. 9 a.m. equine-related demonstration in the paddock. 11 a.m. trackside handicapping seminar. 11:35 a.m. Q & A session with a Keeneland jockey in the paddock.
Craft Beer Tent
Fridays and Saturday on the North Terrace patio. The special selection of beers includes Blue Stallion, Country Boy, Fat Tire, Kentucky Ale Race Day IPA, Land Shark, Shock Top, Sierra Nevada and Woodchuck Hard Cider.
Hall of Fame Jockey Day
April 22. Hall of Fame jockeys will be honored at special events, autograph signings and appearances at the track. A poster created by artist Pierre Bellocq will be sold with proceeds to benefit The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame and the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund.
Military Day at the Races
April 24. All active and inactive military members and their families receive free general admission. A Military Family Zone with music, food, children’s activities and more will be noon-4 p.m. in the North Terrace.
Concert on the Hill
April 29, following the final race. Free concert by Emerson Drive and Sundy Best. Event proceeds benefit the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Foundation.
