The high cost of concertgoing at Rupp Arena isn’t entirely new. Several past shows have sported mile-high ticket prices for their best seats, some of which came with a few extra frills thrown in.

The costliest ticket to date — and this may come as a surprise — was for the country band Alabama. A single front row ticket for its October 2003 Rupp performance (which was part of a farewell tour; the band has since reformed) was $1,000. The ticket price included a meet-and- greet with the band, a signed poster and a signed guitar. Tickets for the next three rows (which also earned patrons a signed poster) were $300 each.

Before this year, the most expensive tickets for single seats without any extras were general admission pit tickets for Taylor Swift’s October 2015 concert ($200), a March 2003 double bill of Elton John and Billy Joel ($186.25) and the July 2015 show by the Eagles ($169.50).
