The (past) shows will go on for the Lexington Philharmonic. Here’s how you can hear them
While the remaining concerts of the Lexington Philharmonic’s current season were canceled last month over COVID 19-related concerns, classical music audiences can still enjoy the orchestra’s music at home.
The Philharmonic will be airing recordings of five past performances through WEKU-FM and WEKU-Classical. The concerts will be broadcast every other week through late June.
First up will be a September 2015 performance featuring Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 (“The Resurrection Symphony”) that enlisted choirs from Transylvania University, Eastern Kentucky University, Asbury University and Berea College and was conducted by Scott Terrell.
The concert will be presented at 8 p.m. May 1 on WEKU Classical (at weku.org) and 8 p.m. May 3 on WEKU 88.9.
Philharmonic enthusiasts should also take note of an online site that will offer a series of performances by orchestra members, youth oriented activities, educational videos and more. Go to lexphil.org/lexphil-living-room for more information.
