Country superstar Alan Jackson returns to Rupp one last time: When, how to get tickets

One of country music’s biggest stars is coming to Lexington one final time.

Alan Jackson announced Friday that he will bring his “Last Call: One More for the Road!” tour to Rupp Arena on Sept 9 at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show go on sale 10 a.m. March 18 online at livenation.com. Pre-sale tickets through Ticketmaster.com beginning with Citi cardholders begins 10 a.m. March 15.

The Lexington concert is one that is rescheduled from 2020 and tickets sold for that event will be honored, according to the release; new tickets also will be available.

VIP experiences will be available, including a pre-show party presented by AJ’s Good Time Bar, the Nashville honky-tonk owned and operated by the entertainer in the heart of Music City, highlighted by live music from James Carothers and Cory Farley, featured performers from AJs.

Jackson announced last fall that he is living with CMT (Charcot-Marie-Tooth), a chronic inherited neuropathy condition that results in nerve deterioration and hampers muscle function, movement and balance. One dollar from every ticket sold for the tour will be donated to the CMT Research Foundation for drug development; it will be matched by other donors and board members.

The Country Music Hall of Famer has played Rupp Arena many times, with the last being in 2018 with Lauren Alaina.

“I’ve always admired my heroes like George Jones, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn and Charley Pride who just played as much as they wanted to, as long as they could,” Jackson says. “I’ve always thought I’d like to do that, and I’d like to as long as my health will allow,” he said in a statement. “I’ll try to do as much as I can, but if I’m comin’ your way, come see me….”

He will cover 30 years of hits, including “Chattahoochee” and “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” that made him a three-time CMA Entertainer of the Year.
