Alltech Celebration of Song

Everett McCorvey will direct a symphony of vocalists and musicians from the UK Opera Theatre, including winners of the Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition, in two free singalong concerts at 3 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the atrium inside The Square at 401 West Main Street.

The audience is encouraged to join in the singing of holiday carols. The celebration will feature special guest performances by renowned musical artists including Gregory Turay and Tedrin Blair Lindsay. www.celebrationofsong.org.

‘The Nutcracker on Ice’

Clara, Fritz, and friends take to the ice in the Thoroughbred Figure Skating Club’s version of the holiday classic. Performances are 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 4 p.m. Sunday at the Lexington Ice Center, 560 Eureka Springs Drive. Tickets are $12 in advance, $14 day of show. Tfscskating.org.

Handel’s ‘Messiah’

Gregory Turay, the Lexington Singers and a baroque orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Singletary Center. Tickets are $10 to $30. 859-257-4929. Scfatickets.com.

On Saturday the Lexington Singers take the ‘Messiah’ on the road with a 7:30 p.m. performance at First Baptist Church in London. Tickets to that show are $30. Fineartsseky.org.

‘The Ugly Duckling’

The world premiere play written by the Lexington Children’s Theatre’s Vivian and Larry Snipes opens this weekend at LCT’s Main Stage. Incorporating shadows and puppetry, the story touches upon acceptance and respect as the Ugly Duckling grows into what he was meant to be.

Performances are 2 p.m. Sunday, 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 16 and 2 p.m. Dec. 17, with a special sensory friendly performance at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 17. Tickets are $19 for adults, $16 for children. Lctonstage.org.

Illuminated Evenings

Friday and Saturday evenings through Dec. 23, Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill in Harrodsburg features holiday music, crackling fires, and candlelit tours. Activities include hands-on crafts in the Elf Shop and rides aboard the Jingle Bell Shuttle. Fire pits will be lit and complimentary hot chocolate will be served. Admission is $5. 1-800-734-5611.
