‘A Cathedral Christmas: Songs of the Manger’
The Lexington Philharmonic presents a selection of sacred works for voice and orchestra at 8 p.m. Saturday at Cathedral of Christ the King, 299 Colony Boulevard. The Lexington Chamber Chorale and Ecco Chamber Choir will join in performances by Holst, Respighi, Reger and Howard Blake. Handel’s ‘Messiah’ Sing-along
Sing along to the holiday classic during a free evening of music at 7 p.m. Saturday at the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints , 2459 Sir Barton Way. Guest soloists include soprano Marie-France Duclos, alto Sherri Phelps, tenor Zach Morris and bass Daniel Koehn. Lexingtonmessiah.org.
Lexington SantaCon
Dress like Santa and pop into your favorite Lexington bars on Saturday. Santas get free admission at participating venues during scheduled times, and drink specials will be offered. It’s 4:30 to 6 p.m. starting at Lexington Beerworks, 213 North Limestone, and continues through downtown bars until 1 a.m. Check out the Facebook events page for times and venues.
‘The Nutcracker’ performances
Lexington has “Nutcrackers” aplenty this weekend, with performances at multiple venues.

‘A Christmas Carol’ at Waveland
Scenes from the Dickens holiday classic are played out in the historic home built in the mid-1800s, about the same time the story was written. Performances are at 6 and 8 p.m. Friday; 4, 6 and 8 p.m. Saturday at Waveland State Historic Site, 225 Waveland Museum Lane. Admission is $20 adults, $10 children. Henry Cho
