Call it short attention span ballet. Each year, the Bluegrass Youth Ballet rolls out its Nutcracker in One Act, a shortened edition of the ballet classic for those who may not be ready for the full-length show or may want a condensed version for their busy holiday schedules. But don’t worry, they still hit all the highlights. Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday in the Singletary Center for the Arts Concert Hall, 405 Rose Street. Tickets are $15-$18. Call 859-257-4929 or visit Bluegrassyouthballet.org.

For the second consecutive year, the Anthany and Eunice Beatty Foundation is presenting Home for the Holiday, a three-act play with music celebrating the family, fun and faith that make the season what it is. There are two shows at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday at the Lyric Theatre and Cultural Arts Center, 300 East Third Street. Tickets are $20 general admission and $28 VIP, and they are available at Lexingtonlyric.tix.com. Call 859-280-2218.
