Great Day Race + Fest

Whether you’re a runner or just like great live music, food truck fare and micro brews, you’ll find something to enjoy at this outdoor festival, Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park, 4089 Iron Works Parkway. The race is a 5k, 10k and steeplechase obstacle course. Races are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the festival begins after the award ceremonies and lasts all day. Live music starts at 1 p.m. with Johnny Conqueroo. Other events include outdoor yoga, karaoke and a Hula-Hoop competition. General admission is $10 in advance, $15 at the gate, free for ages 12 and younger. Parking for Great Day is free, just enter through the campground entrance. Southland Street Fair

Celebrate the south side with a day of live music, food and drink vendors, biking demonstrations and more. It’s 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Southland Drive in Lexington. Go to Southlandstreetfair.com for more info. Admission is free.

Lexington Humane Society Mutt Strutt

Bring your pup along for a 2k dog-friendly walk on Saturday at Coldstream Park, 1875 Newtown Pike in Lexington. Registration is $20 online through noon Friday. Race-day registration is $30 and starts at 9 a.m., the race begins at 10:30 a.m. All proceeds will go to the animals at the Lexington Humane Society. Call 859-233-0044 or go to Lhsmuttstrut.com.

Bluegrass Birding Festival

Learn about native plants to attract birds and butterflies, explore the world of the hummingbird and woodpecker, get nature photography tips and more, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at McConnell Springs, 416 Rebmann Lane in Lexington.
