The free tour of downtown galleries is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. M S Rezny Studio/Gallery, 903 Manchester Street, will present the finals of the juried art competition Firmly Rooted 2016. Artists from 28 states submitted more than 290 works of botanical interpretations. Juror Stuart Horodner, director of the University of Kentucky Art Museum, selected 29 pieces for the exhibit. Awards will be presented at the reception, and the public is invited to vote for the “people’s choice” award. Lexington Lions Club Bluegrass Fair
Get your fill of funnel cakes, catch a show by Kristen Johnson, aka Lady Houdini, or take a spin on the carnival rides — the fair is fun for the whole family. Gates open at 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday through July 24 at Masterson Station Park, 3051 Leestown Road. Admission is $6 (cash only), free for ages 6 and younger. Fountain Films On Friday: ‘Rocky’
Sylvester Stallone goes the distance as everybody’s favorite underdog boxer Rocky Balboa, in the first film of the summer series. Every Friday through Aug. 19 catch a free screening of a movie at Triangle Park, 400 West Main Street. The show starts at dark, about 9 p.m. Downtownlex.com.
