Drake Maye's Wife Ann Michael Reflects on ‘Whirlwind' Since He Turned Pro
Ann Michael Maye, wife of New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, became an overnight celebrity during New England's run to the Super Bowl last football season - something she could not have seen coming just two years ago.
"It's all been such a whirlwind," Ann Michael, 22, told reporters at her and Drake's annual MayeDay Celebrity Softball Classic. "I feel like everything happened so, so fast. I mean, I was literally in college two years ago today."
Drake, 23, and Ann Michael met in middle school in Huntersville, North Carolina and have been together ever since.
"It's so crazy but so cool to see all the people and everyone has been so great, so kind to us, received us so well, and so we've grown to love this place in a short amount of time," Ann Michael continued. "It's awesome to see something like this, such great turnout, how our ideas, on a whim, kind of turned into something so cool."
Drake revealed during the 2026 playoffs that his wife had never lived up north before he joined the Patriots and that getting used to New England was "an adjustment."
The 2026 MayeDay Celebrity Softball Classic played out on Sunday, May 31, with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels managing each team. In addition to Drake and Ann Michael, celebrity players included comedian Matt Rife, Patriots legend Julian Edelman, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, San Jose Sharks center Will Smith and several other current Patriots players.
Though she isn't a professional athlete, Ann Michael more than showed she belonged during the game, ripping a single up the middle in one at bat, shared via X by ESPN football reporter Mike Reiss.
"I played some softball back in my day," she told reporters before the game as Drake interjected, "Great athlete. Still is."
Before the game, Drake and Ann Michael presented an $80,000 check to Boston Children's Hospital. They also donated $1,000 for each home run hit in the event's Home Run Derby and an additional $2,500 for each hit during the game itself. It added up to an additional $94,000 to the hospital by the end of the night, plus an additional $5,000 check that the couple donated to a local high school, according to ESPN.
"It's for the kids. For Boston Children's," Drake said. "It's what we want to do. It means a lot to us."
"We're so excited to be here and able to do this and help the kids at Boston Children's Hospital," Ann Michael added. "It's just something so fun, we're looking forward to being competitive out here, have fun playing some softball."
