In a video questioning what’s happened to civility in America, Gov. Matt Bevin on Thursday called out by name a man who made an inflammatory comment about him and President Donald Trump on Facebook.

In the video, which lasts 3 minutes and 18 seconds, Bevin spends about one minute talking about recent events like explosives that have been mailed to high-profile Democrats and a double-fatal shooting at a Jeffersontown Kroger Wednesday. He then spends the rest of the video discussing a comment on a Kentucky Democratic Party Facebook post.

The original post by the Kentucky Democratic Party includes a picture that showed Bevin, U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell and President Donald Trump. In response to the post, one commenter said, “Too bad no one threw a grenade in the middle of that group of (expletive).”

Bevin read and showed the commenter’s name during his Facebook video along with the names of eight people who “liked” the comment. With their names, Facebook profile pictures of the commenter and those who like the comment were also shown.

“I call on the Kentucky Democratic Party, take this post down,” Bevin said in the video. “Shame on you for allowing this kind of hate and this kind of vitriol to be celebrated on your website. It reflects poorly on good Democrats and there are many of them in this state.”

Bevin said in the video Thursday that the comment was an example of a “reprehensible” trend of people calling for other people to be harmed.

Democrats have lobbed a similar criticism at Trump for his inflammatory comments about journalists and his political rivals in the aftermath of explosive devices being sent this week to CNN, former President Barack Obama and other high-profile Democrats.

The news of the explosive devices also caused a disagreement between the heads of Kentucky’s Democratic and Republican parties.

Bevin praises Trump in the video, saying he’s done more for working men and women and skilled trade workers than any president.

In the conclusion of his video, Bevin said that the people of Kentucky are better and deserve better than comments like the one on the Facebook post.

“This is unacceptable, I don’t care what party you are, I don’t care what your ideology, calling for the death of other people, calling for the destruction of other people, harassing people and encouraging others to do it is unacceptable,” Bevin said.

The Kentucky Democratic Party did not immediately provide a comment.
