Update: Friday, April 17: To read a full roundup of questions and answers go here: Answering your questions on the federal stimulus payments to address the coronavirus emergency.

When will I see my government stimulus money show up in my bank account? Do I need to file a special form if I’m on Social Security?

What if I paid no taxes last year?

The payments of $1,200 per adult and $500 per child are available to individuals who earned an adjusted gross income of $75,000 or less and couples who made $150,000 or less as reported on their 2018 or 2019 tax return.

But what if the money doesn’t show up this week? What if you don’t get the full amount? We try to answer those and other questions about these payments, which are aimed at helping people cope with basic necessities such as paying the rent or grocery bills for awhile. Tell us how it may help you — or how it’s not enough.

Our Live Q&A is over, but you can still ask us your questions in the comment box below. Reporter David Lightman will be answering questions on this page through Wednesday morning, April 15.
