Pike jewelry store robbed at gunpoint
A Pike County jewelry store was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon, according to Kentucky State Police.
Gregg Callas, 42, of Prestonsburg, was charged with one count of first-degree robbery and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. According to state police, Callas entered Castle's Jewelry at Weddington Square Plaza at Coal Run shortly before 4 p.m. armed with a handgun and struggled with a female employee before leaving the store in a 2001 Ford Taurus.
Police arrested Callas at the Wal-Mart parking lot in Pikeville. He was taken to the Pike County Detention Center, where he was lodged under a $50,000 full cash bond.
