State auditor to answer questions at Lexington council meeting

State Auditor Crit Luallen will be at the Urban County Council meeting Thursday night to answer questions about her staff's audit of a city employee's fraud allegations.

Council member Jay McChord asked Mayor Jim Newberry at Tuesday's work session if he would ask Luallen to come to the meeting. One question McChord said he wanted answered was how council member Diane Lawless acquired documents related to to the fraud allegations.

City employee Patrick Johnston raised the possibility of fraud when he questioned the way some of the city's insurance had been switched to the Kentucky League of Cities in 2007. His job was later targeted for elimination.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. in council chambers at the Government Center, 200 East Main Street. The meeting will be open to the public. A time for public comment comes at the end of the meeting. Individuals must sign in in order to speak.
