Lexington shop that offered drinkable chocolate and other sweet treats will close
After nine years of serving up rich sweetness in a cup, Chocolate Holler says it has come to the end of an era.
The shop, which specialized in hot chocolate, sipping chocolate, coffee and other sweet treats, says it is closing, though a date has not been announced.
“We’ve been coming to terms with this decision for a long time and finally decided it’s time,” Chocolate Holler said in a Facebook post Saturday morning.
The company said it will remain open with regular hours until a closing date is set after talking with vendors and its landlord at the Greyline Station.
“We’ve loved being around sharing chocolate and memories with you, and we’ve loved playing a part and being a part of the Greyline community,” the post stated. “We’re excited about what they have cooking and can’t wait to see it come to fruition, but for us we’re saying adieu and the staff will begin integrating back into A Cup of Common Wealth.”
“From opening and having lines wrapped around Old Vine, to battling COVID, to fighting off some ‘fun’ identity theft scams, to enduring some personal struggles, to changing hands of ownership and doing a 180, to moving to the historic Greyline, and everything in between all of that. It’s time,” Chocolate Holler’s social media post said. “Much love to all of you and can’t wait to see how you seek out all of your other chocolate adventures.”
For now, the shop is open from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, according to the post.
Chocolate Holler first opened on Old Vine Street as an offshoot of A Cup of Common Wealth in 2017.
It came under new ownership in 2023 and moved to the Greyline Station last August.
