Buffalo Trace releases semi-annual bourbon that has previously won rave reviews, medals
Buffalo Trace Distillery has released the latest Stagg Jr., and it’s hitting shelves now.
This version, the 13th release, is 128.4 proof, with “a nose with loads of dark cherries, followed by honey. On the palate, there are flavors of cream caramel mocha followed by cherries, giving it a full-bodied mouthfeel,” and a finish of toasted oak, dark chocolate and cinnamon, according to the tasting notes.
Like always, Stagg Jr. is released uncut, unfiltered, eight years old and with a taste profile similar to George T. Stagg, which is part of the Frankfort distillery’s limited release Antique Collection and aged for 15 years or longer.
Stagg Jr., usually priced about $50 a bottle, is released twice a year. The 14th release is expected in late spring/early summer. The Stagg Jr. line was introduced in 2013, winning awards and lavish reviews.
