Kentucky Derby tradition: Where to buy Woodford Reserve’s special bourbon bottle
Spring is coming and here’s one sure sign: The return of the Woodford Reserve Kentucky Derby bottle.
The annual special release from the presenting sponsor of the Run for the Roses on the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs features work by Kentucky artist Jaime Corum this year.
Her painting, titled “Dreams in Bloom,” features three Thoroughbreds racing neck-and-neck, surrounded by a spray of vivid spring flowers, including the iconic red roses of Derby, according to a news release.
“The attention to detail in Jaime’s artwork is remarkable – and so realistic,” Woodford Reserve master distiller Chris Morris said in the release. “This year’s bottle celebrating the 148th Kentucky Derby will make a gorgeous addition to anyone’s bar.”
The new special collectible bottles are on sale to buy at stores in Kentucky and nationally for a suggested retail price of $49.99 and will be available online through ReserveBar.
And this year Woodford Reserve is partnering with Williams Sonoma to release a mixer so you can make the Woodford Spire at home. Made with cranberry and lemon, the Woodford Spire is an official cocktail of the Kentucky Derby. You can also get Mint Julep and Whiskey Sour mixers.
“The Woodford Spire is a staple for any Kentucky Derby celebration, and this year, Williams-Sonoma is making it easier than ever to make this delicious cocktail,” said assistant master distiller Elizabeth McCall.
