Lexington Craft Beer Week returns, along with annual beer cheese competition
It’s about to get foamy: Lexington Craft Beer Week returns to full strength for the first time since 2019. The annual event was canceled in 2020 and an abbreviated version was held in 2021, but this year all the taps are back and so is the beer cheese.
The celebration of all things beer, organized by LexBeerScene.com, will be May 6-15 with more than 45 events around Lexington.
Even before the festivities officially start, there will be a special release: Country Boy Brewing and West Sixth Brewing will release their 10th annual collaboration beer called Country Western. It will be available at 5 p.m. on May 4 at both breweries and then be available on draft around town through the week.
This year’s Country Western Vol. 10, Country Western in Space, is a Double New England Style IPA brewed with Galaxy, Strata, and Citra hops. It’s 8.5 percent alcohol by volume and also will be available in four-pack cans.
Other special beer releases, according to a news release, will include imperial stouts made with coconut and chocolate, sake-inspired beers, orange creamsicle beer, ice cream-inspired beer and a beer-cocktail competition.
Country Boy Brewing beer cheese contest
Country Boy Brewing also will host its annual beer cheese competition at its Georgetown location. You can try more than 50 versions of beer cheese and vote for your favorite. Or enter your own beer cheese for bragging rights.
The full schedule of events is available online at LexBeerScene.com. Some events require tickets.
Participating breweries, bars and restaurants include Blue Stallion, Boonedogs, Burnaco’s-Maiden City Brewing, The Burl Arcade, Country Boy, Drake’s and OBC Kitchen, Ethereal, Goodfellas, Goodwood, Mirror Twin, Rock House, Shamrock Patchen, West Sixth and Winchell’s.
