Lexington, ready to sing? New karaoke bar will be opening near UK campus
Lexington, get ready to pick out your song: A new karaoke bar is coming to town.
Night Kitty Karaoke Bar will open near the University of Kentucky campus at 545 S. Broadway, Suite 185, on the ground floor of The Lex apartment building.
Bar owner Cai Dong also operates Ginger Wasabi Sushi + Grill at the intersection of Maxwell and Limestone and Zen Sushi and Sake in the Beaumont Center.
Dong said that he thinks the new campus area place will appeal to UK students and anyone looking to have a little fun with a song.
“There are bars that do karaoke. But we’re going to be focused on the karaoke,” he said.
The main room will have a stage area where anyone can sign up for a song and people can get drinks and enjoy the show.
“On the weekend, we will do a cover (charge) then you put your name and song down,” he said.
There also will be seven private rooms of varying sizes for parties to book for a couple of hours or a whole night, he said.
The VIP rooms will hold up to 20 people, he said, can arrange for bottle service rather than ordering at the bar.
The bar will have snacks and Dong said they are hoping to work with local restaurants to let customers place orders.
He said they hope to open Night Kitty by the end of February or the early part of March, once the liquor license has been approved.
