Want to own a brewery? Here’s why Lexington owner is selling his two cider taprooms
A Lexington brewery that specializes in cider is up for sale.
Pivot Brewing, which opened in 2016 at 1400 Delaware Ave., is accepting offers until July 31 on the Lexington production facility and taproom, the Louisville taproom and brand’s intellectual property.
Minimum bid for the entire operation is $430,000, according to sale information listed online.
Owner Kevin Compton said that he is returning to environmental work after building the Kentucky cidery from scratch. His brewer and assistant brewer also are stepping away, which led Compton to put the facilities up for sale in whole or in parts after exploring a crowdfunding effort earlier this year.
Pivot has an extensive portfolio of beer and cider, most of which is distributed in cans. Compton will continue to own the Delaware Avenue property, which will be leased to a new brewery owner.
Compton opened the cidery after working for more than two years on the property, which is just up the road from Pasta Garage. They crushed apples on-site to make many different types of alcoholic ciders.
The Lexington location frequently hosted food trucks on site as well as community events.
Pivot added a Louisville taproom in February 2023 at 1753 Bardstown Rd. in a lease space near The Post pizza restaurant and Purrfect Day Cat Cafe.
Compton said on Tuesday that he’s had lots of interest in the brewery already.
“It’s a good brand, we’ve got a great position in the community, and we’ve had a lot of support throughout the years,” Compton said. “I think that will be good thing in the right hands.”
