New release drops for Woodford Reserve Distillery Series and it’s not a bourbon.
Woodford Reserve announced a new Distillery Series release that leans into malt two ways.
Blended Malt is a 90.4 proof blend of two different malt whiskies. One was 100 percent malt aged in used barrels then finished in a Ruby Port barrel, while the other was a blend of five different styles of malt grains aged in new oak barrels, according to the distiller.
The result has a nose of raspberry preserves, nutty malt, pumpkin spice and orange peel. On the palate, it’s candied nutty malt, raw oak and citrus oils with a finish of dark fruit, raspberry, raisins, fig, and a hint of allspice, according to the tasting notes.
“This showcases our ability to take complex barrels of whiskies, blend them together and create a new flavorful product,” said master distiller Elizabeth McCall, in the release.
The limited release is available beginning July 30 at the Woodford Reserve Distillery gift shop on McCracken Pike in Versailles and at select Kentucky retailers as well as online for shipping in to some locations. It has a suggested retail price of $64.99.
