Brewer Dude, a Lexington microbrewery and homebrew store, is expanding and moving into a busy restaurant area already home to a brewery.

The business, previously housed in a storefront on Seventh Street, also under new ownership, announced on social media that it has reopened at 740 National Ave Suite 130.

The new space is behind The White Dress of Lexington, with off-street parking in two lots. It’s also across from Mirror Twin Brewery and Rolling Oven Pizzeria, along the National Avenue Warehouse Block corridor that includes Epping’s on Eastside, Blue Door Smokehouse, Sav’s Gourmet Ice Cream, Wild Lab Bakery, Void Sake and more.

Co-owner Daniel Cambron said he and his brother, Aaron Cambron and their wives, Sydney Norman and Katie Cambron, bought Brewer Dude two months ago from Kagen Katzenmaier, who opened it on Seventh Street in 2017.

“It started as just a home brewer’s supply store, selling grains, yeast, hops, tubing ... everything someone would need to make beer, cider, wine at home,” Daniel Cambron said. At some point, it added a microbrewery license to brew and serve to customers but the space was quite limited, he said.

In the new location, there will be tables with about 30 seats for customers to enjoy what’s brewing, whether it’s a beer, a cider or something else, he said.

“The whole vibe has been redesigned,” he said. “We’ve expanded the taproom. Now it’s definitely like half and half, taproom and store, whereas before it was just a counter and two or three chairs.”

Brewer Dude still sells supplies for home brewers, such as beer-making kits, specialty grains, yeast, hops, and equipment for sale and even supplies for kombucha and cheesemakers. “Basically, anything fermented,” he said.

Cambron said that local beer and cider lovers may noticed some of the bartenders and fixtures look familiar. The glassware, flight trays and more were purchased second hand from Pivot Brewing, which closed on Delaware earlier this year.

He said Brewer Dude also will have some Pivot ciders and brews on tap while they last as well.
