Pappy holidays: Kroger lottery returns with 1,000+ bottles of pricey bourbon
Kroger’s annual Pappy raffle is back, just in time for the holidays. This year there will be a whole sleigh full of bottles available.
So let’s get right to it with details.
This year, the grocery store chain will have more than 1,000 bottles up for grabs Dec. 20 at 61 Kentucky Kroger Wine & Spirit Shoppes, according to a news release announcing the annual bourbon lottery.
Pappy Van Winkle bourbon is highly sought after by collectors and difficult to find. Kroger, because it sells more whiskey and other spirits than just about any other retailer, receives a larger allocation (more bottles of the rare bourbon) than any other retailer.
When is the Kroger Pappy lottery?
The lottery will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 20. Each store will have at least 14 bottles for sale, including:
- Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year 107 proof, $149.99
- Old Rip Van Winkle 12 Year 90.4 proof, $169.99
- Old Rip Van Winkle 13 Year 95.6 proof, $229.99
- Pappy Van Winkle 15 Year 107 Proof, $239.99
- Pappy Van Winkle 20 Year 90.4 Proof, $359.99
- Pappy Van Winkle 23 Year 95.6 Proof, $499.99.
How to enter Kroger’s Pappy lottery
Customers can enter only on Saturday, Dec. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. local time. Drawings for a chance to purchase a bottle will be done on Sunday, Dec. 21. One entry per customer per store, must be 21 or older. Customers can purchase their bottles beginning Dec. 22.
