Devine’s celebrates 10 years of corn mazes with greatest-hits edition
The Devine’s Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch, 623 Talmage Mayo Road in Harrodsburg, is celebrating a decade with this year’s 10-acre corn maze design. Over the past 10 years, the maze designs have included Kentucky and all of its counties, the World Equestrian Games logo, the Final Four logo from 2011, the UK National Championship logo in 2012, FFA and 4-H in 2013, the Armed Forces in 2014, Triple Crown Winner American Pharoah in 2015, and an election theme in 2016. This year’s design brings all those themes together to celebrate the maze’s10th anniversary.
Devine’s, owned by Glenn and Martina Devine, offers hayrides to the pumpkin patch, bonfires, a petting area, a hay maze, a giant slide, tube swings, a trike track, a corn hopper and zip lines. Admission includes a pumpkin for everyone and all activities except zip lines. It’s open to the public Friday through Oct. 29, when it will become the “Field of Horror” for Halloween.
▪ Man o’ War Harley-Davidson, 2073 Bryant Road, will host the 19th annual Burgers and Bikes in Memory of Randolph Scott from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday to benefit Special Olympics Kentucky. The event will include a police motorcycle demonstration at 1:30 p.m., a bike show, a slow-ride contest at 2:30 p.m., and activities for bikers and non-bikers alike. There also will be a silent auction and raffles. Music by the Cane Run Bluegrass Band will begin at noon; Mad Mike’s food truck and Reggie’s Snow Cones will sell food and drinks. The event is free. Entries in the bike show and slow ride are $10 each.
▪ Mark your calendar: Sister Cities will host the 15th annual Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser, 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 27 at O’Neill’s Irish Pub, 2051 Richmond Road. Admission is $10 at the door and includes Irish Stew and Irish breads prepared by guest chef Mary Parlanti and former vice mayor Linda Gorton. The event will feature the McTeggart Irish Dancers, Liam’s Fancy Irish Music, guest bartenders and a silent auction. Proceeds benefit student exchanges annually to Ireland, France, Japan and England.
▪ Bennigan’s, 5532 Athens Boonesboro Road, is celebrating National Monte Cristo Day on Sunday. Customers can get a free Monte Cristo with the purchase of any item of equal or greater value. The Monte Cristo is honey wheat bread layered with ham, roasted turkey, and Swiss and American cheeses; it’s batter-dipped, fried and coated with powdered sugar, and served with red raspberry preserves for dipping.
Bennigan’s recently launched a fall menu that includes the YOLO Monte Burger, a half-pound burger topped with melted raspberry cream cheese and bacon on a fried brioche bun, dusted with powdered sugar and finished with a house-made maple bourbon glaze. Other new items include the Oktoberfest burger, made with cheddar cheese, seasoned grilled onions and biergarten mustard on a toasted brioche bun; reuben fritters, corned beef, sauerkraut, cream cheese and Swiss cheese fritters dipped in buttermilk and breaded in a special panko mix; and several seasonal cocktails.
▪ The partners of Rye, a nationally recognized New American restaurant in Louisville’s NuLu neighborhood, are opening a lunch spot, Lox, at 900 East Market Street.
Inspired by the tradition and flavor profiles of Jewish delicatessens that line the East Coast, Lox will cure salmon in-house to create classic lox bagel sandwiches and will offer a fresh seafood-based menu. Patrons can pair lunch with an afternoon cocktail or champagne. Lox will offer party platters and catering for business lunches or brunches.

▪ Jessamine Growers Farmers Market, 8 a.m. to noon Saturday behind City Hall at Main and Rice streets in Wilmore, will have locally grown tomatoes, green beans, squash, potatoes and other seasonal vegetables, herbs, local honey and eggs, cut flowers and perennials.
▪ Bluegrass Farmers Market, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Liquor Barn, 1837 Plaudit Place in Hamburg, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Azur, 3070 Lakecrest Circle, will have beans, corn, tomatoes, potatoes, eggs, honey, jams, beef and pork.
▪ Nicholasville Farmers Market, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 717 North Main Street, will have peaches, tomatoes, watermelons, sweet corn, lettuces, squash, green beans, cucumbers, carrots, beets, greens, candy onions, flowers, jams and jellies, baked breads, black Angus beef, specialty roasted coffees and items from Kentucky artisans.
▪ Lexington Farmers Market, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Cheapside Park and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Southland Drive, will have corn, okra, tomatoes, watermelon, beans, peppers, peaches, eggplant, greens, cut flowers, lettuces and tomatillos.
▪ Chevy Chase Farmers Market, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at 316 Ashland Avenue, will have fresh seasonal local produce, and pastured meat and eggs.
