New restaurant offers half-price sushi; three more locations planned

A new sushi and hibachi place has opened in Lexington: Sakura on Winchester Road is in the former KFC spot.

Owner Johnny Lin said he plans to open three more locations in Lexington and is looking on Richmond and Nicholasville Road. He already has a dozen of the restaurants, which feature half-price sushi all the time on the extensive menu.

“Everything for us is fresh fish, high quality and everything fresh,” Lin said.

The most popular dishes, he said are sushi rolls such as the Angry Dragon Roll and the Hawaii Roll as well as hibachi dishes such as steak and shrimp.

Sakura opened Nov. 15. It’s open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with longer hours on the weekends, he said. The restaurants focus on drive-through business although they offer sit-down dining, too.

“We like drive-through. It’s more convenient for customer,” Lin said.
