The last of three popular Lexington coffee shops closes

Three popular coffee places, all owned by the same family, in Lexington have closed.

The last to close, Barista Social, shut its doors officially on Dec. 14. The coffee shop at 124 Malabu Dr. announced on its Facebook page that would be the final day of business.

“We wish to extend a very heartfelt thanks to all of our customers for their wonderful support,” the post said. “Thank you from all of us at Barista Social.”

The coffee shop was known as Daily Offerings Coffee & Cafe when it opened in early 2018 as a second location of the Daily Offerings Coffee Roastery at 529 West Main St. In April 2019, owner Kristie Kotze sold both locations to Drew McCoy, who owned Metropolitan Donuts in Beaumont.

McCoy renamed the coffee shops Barista Social.

Now all three locations have closed, with the Malabu location the last to go. The downtown location closed in September and Metropolitan Donuts last year as well.

McCoy confirmed by email that the coffee shops and Metropolitan Donuts are closed permanently.

“As a family we just decided that we wanted to pursue other interests and explore new opportunities in our life,” McCoy said.
