Cincinnati-based chili chain has closed a Lexington location

Don’t freak out chili fans, but one location of a popular chain has closed in Lexington.

Gold Star Chili closed its location at Palomar Centre, off Man o’War Boulevard and Harrodsburg Road. The restaurant announced the news Sunday on its Facebook page.

“We thank you for your patronage, Palomar Centre fans! This location is permanently closed as of March 6th. We will deeply miss being around the community and all of our loyal fans,” the restaurant posted.

The Gold Star Chili locations at Hamburg, Fayette Mall and in Georgetown remain open, according to the post.

Gold Star is one of at least two popular “Cincinnati-style” chili chains in Lexington, along with Skyline. They both feature uniquely flavored chili, served on spaghetti pasta or hotdogs, and topped with mounded shredded cheese.

Gold Star Chili also recently introduced a non-meat version.
