UPDATE: Popular Lexington steakhouse that closed after a fire is reopening

A popular high-end Lexington steak house that closed after a fire Thursday has announced plans to reopen Saturday afternoon.

J. Alexander’s Restaurant at 4081 Finn Way announced on Facebook that they planned to open at 4 p.m. Saturday with a limited menu. .

“Though our grill is down temporarily, we will be featuring our Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and Jumbo Fried Shrimp,” the restaurant said in a Facebook post. “Thank you all for your patience and support. We look forward to serving you!”

The restaurant was the site of an apparent fire on Thursday afternoon, with several firefighters responding.

That night, J. Alexander’s announced it would be closed and would assess damage Friday morning.

Although there was no visible damage to the outside of the restaurant afterward, the restaurant had to deal with some issues that prevented reopening immediately.

“Due to mechanical issues, we will be closed until further notice. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Updates to follow,” the restaurant announced on Facebook.

J. Alexander’s was the first restaurant to open at the development on Nicholasville and Man o’ War. It opened in March 2017.

Two months ago the Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen in the Andover area near Hamburg was forced to close after sustaining heavy damage in a fire that left two firefighters injured.
