New burger chain coming to Mt. Sterling, may expand to Morehead, Maysville

A new burger option is coming to Mt. Sterling: Rally’s will be opening its first location there.

Franchise owner Romik Patel said that the restaurant could be opening by the end of the year or in early 2021, depending on shipments of equipment and hiring. He said they hope to hire up to 50 people.

Patel said that the location will have a double drive-thru, that becomes a single pick-up lane, rather than the parallel windows, as newer Rally’s locations have.

Rally’s began in Louisville and is now teamed with Checkers as one of the largest hamburger chains in the U.S.

The menu also includes chicken sandwiches, wings, fish sandwiches, hot dogs, seasoned french fries and milkshakes.

Chains with drive-thrus have been doing well during the coronavirus pandemic. Rally’s has no dining room, just seating outside at picnic tables.

Patel said his family, which has lived in Mt. Sterling since 2008, hopes to open more Rally’s locations, possibly in Maysville and Morehead.

They also own the Cold Stone Creamery in Fayette Mall, plus a gas station and convenience store in Mt. Sterling, as well as liquor stores in Lebanon and in Clay City.
