One of Lexington’s longest-running “foodie” events will celebrate 40 years of serving up tidbits and cocktails from some of the best restaurants and bars in town.

The sold-out Taste of the Bluegrass, the major fundraiser for God’s Pantry Food Bank, returns on May 13 at Keeneland’s Barn and Entertainment Center.

God’s Pantry Food Bank works with more than 400 food pantry and meal programs in 50 counties of Central and Eastern Kentucky. In fiscal year 2021, the food bank distributed nearly 41.8 million pounds of food to nearly 200,000 individuals, including more than 12 million pounds of fresh produce.

“God’s Pantry Food Bank has been planning, un-planning, and re-planning the 40th annual Taste of the Bluegrass for two years! Finally, attendees can once again eat, drink and be giving,” said CEO Michael Halligan in a news release. “By coming together we will raise money to put food on tables, creating more than a million meals in one night, for those who experience hunger across Central and Eastern Kentucky.”

More than 30 restaurants, vineyards, distilleries and breweries will serve samples of items to attendees, including some new participants this year.
