Two restaurants coming to UK campus area: One new to Kentucky, other at notable spot
Limestone near the University of Kentucky campus will be getting two new restaurants soon.
Mehak Indian Cuisine will open at 395 S. Limestone in June, according to owner Raj Kumar. The new restaurant will be on the highly visible corner of Limestone and Avenue of Champions and most recently was the location of Crumzz Bar and Grill.
The chef at Mehak Indian Cuisine will be the owner’s father, Pawan Kumar, who used to have a popular restaurant, India Palace on Maxwell Street about 20 years ago.
The restaurant will be open for lunch and for dinner seven days a week, with a buffet at lunch daily and a dinner buffet on Friday and Saturday, Kumar said. Exact hours are still being decided, he said.
The menu will feature Indian cuisine including vegetarian items, chicken, lamb and more. Typical entrees will include Tandori chicken, lamb kabobs, butter chicken, tikka masala and biryani (rice dishes), he said.
The restaurant will serve beer and wine and have cocktails but no beer on tap.
