Another new convenience store chain is coming to Lexington. And this one caters.
Another new convenience store that thinks it’s a restaurant is coming to Lexington.
Huck’s, an employee-owned chain based in Illinois, is opening its first Lexington store, a Huck’s Market, in the Hamburg area off Man o’War Boulevard at 2450 Polo Club Blvd., next door to Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers restaurant, near Cabela’s, Costco and I-75.
The company did not have an immediate response to a request for comment on when the location might open.
Huck’s already has a presence in the state: The convenience stores and gas stations are in Western Kentucky and along I-64 between Louisville and Frankfort. There are 120 locations in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee.
Huck’s is coming to the Bluegrass area as Pennsylvania-based Wawa announced it will be expanding into Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. Earlier this year, Texas-based Buc-ee’s opened its first Kentucky store in Richmond.
Besides gas, Huck’s has food, catering and online ordering. The chain offers Cluck’s fried chicken, Godfather’s Pizza Express, Grill Zone, Bigg Fresh grab-and-go salads and wraps, fresh-baked cookies, doughnuts and pastries as well as coffee and drinks.
