New Lexington Mexican restaurant has flaming cheese fajitas, sparklers on tequila flights
A new Mexican restaurant is opening in Lexington complete with fireworks and over-the-top everything.
El Asadero Mexican Grill opens Dec. 15 at 144 Rojay Dr. off Nicholasville Road in the former TGI Fridays location near Fayette Mall. The TGI Fridays on Fayette Plaza closed in 2018.
The new restaurant, which is part of a Cincinnati-based chain, features modern Mexican food with authentic flavors and a flair for the dramatic: Huge drinks come topped with fruit, flowers, candy and whole bottles of liquor and servers deliver tequila “flights” on airplanes with sparklers blazing. Food often comes on giant platters or grilled on skewers.
The restaurant plans to have a grand opening in a few weeks, according to a spokesperson for Fayette Mall.
What’s on El Asadero’s menu?
The menu includes Mexican street corn; tableside guacamole; street tacos, sopes and tortas; a wide variety of nachos including Hawaiian nachos topped with grilled shrimp and pineapple; birria quesadillas; flaming cheese fajitas and other fare. Vegetarian options including Impossible nachos and an Impossible Burger also are available.
