Another restaurant closes at Greyline Station, but here’s how it will return
A Lexington restaurant that built a strong following with its food truck before opening a brick-and-mortar location in Greyline Station has closed.
Porterhouse BBQ announced the sad news to fans on its Facebook page late last week, saying “Just like alot of other small businesses and restaurants that have closed recently I cannot stay open any longer. I literally put everything I had into opening this location and pretty much lost everything I have worked so hard towards for these last 20 years. Thank you to all my regular customers, family, and friends who supported us along the way we really appreciate it but there are so many issues working against small businesses and restaurants right now I can’t afford to stay open any longer.”
Porterhouse opened in Greyline Station in August of 2021. It’s the third individual tenant to leave the converted bus garage that houses an eclectic collection of restaurants and small businesses. Wilson’s Grocery closed the Greyline location last summer and in the fall Laura Lou’s Patisserie moved to The Grove on Main Street. B’Juiced also moved in August 2022 to the University of Kentucky.
Greyline Station owner Chad Needham said Wednesday afternoon that he’s looking for a new restaurant tenant to move into the corner spot where Porterhouse operated.
“A lot of people want to be there,” Needham said. “We’re just looking for the right fit for that spot.”
Porterhouse BBQ owner Tad Porter said on social media that the food truck will be back out around town in March and they are available for catering. Porter did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
