Big moves for three Lexington restaurants, including one closed for now

Big moves are happening for three Lexington restaurants.

One has closed temporarily for a move across town, one reopened after moving down the block and another opened a second location in a new part of town.

Bad Wolf Burgers, which started on Leestown Road before moving to South Broadway, is moving back to the Meadowthorpe area.

Owner Rachelle Collins said that the lease was up on the South Broadway location so she closed it as of July 22. The restaurant will reopen in early August at 1402 N. Forbes Rd., she said.

Rachelle Collins, owner of Bad Wolf Burgers, said she’s “very excited” about moving back to the Meadowthorpe neighborhood.

“Since the pandemic, we’re doing much more carryout and DoorDash, so it made sense to have less square footage. We’re not utilizing the dining room space as much,” Collins said.

The location on Forbes is where Tchoupitoulas Restaurant opened a few years ago. The space has been empty for some time, Collins said.

“So it’s bringing us back home,” she said. “I’m very excited about it.”

She said that Bad Wolf will continue to serve many burgers but will add more cafe style items to the menu, including soups, salads and sandwiches.

Archa Nine Thai Kitchen, which opened in a small spot in a strip mall on Old Todds Road off of Richmond Road in 2016, has expanded.

The restaurant has added a second location for its traditional street food, including chicken satay, chili pepper shrimps and much more.

Owners Freda Oppenborn and her husband, Panupan Rungcharoen, have opened the second Archa Nine in South Elkhorn Village off of Harrodsburg Road on the south side of Lexington.

The menu at the new location is slightly different, according to the owners, with items such as Dirty Kale, a stir fry of housemade crispy pork belly with Chinese Kale (a vegan version called “The Holy Kale” is still available at the original location.)

Other new items include the appetizer Roti Mataba (a fried stuffed flatbread), Som Tum (green papaya salad), Thai ribs, and the vegan Buddha’s Basket with signature fried spring rolls, crispy fried tofu, and sweet yam chips in an edible bowl made out of spring roll pastry.

The new restaurant, which opened July 22, also will have outdoor seating.
