A Lexington restaurant known for its high quality sushi is expanding two years after opening its first location.

Omakase Sushi & Sake Bar, which opened in Chevy Chase in May 2022, will be adding a second location in the Fountains of Palomar development at the corner of Harrodsburg Road and Man o’ War.

Omakase Sushi & Grill will be in the building with Chipotle at 3900 Fountain Blue Lane, near Lexington’s first Publix grocery store when it opens in late 2024.

It’s one of several new restaurants opening in the development, according to The Greer Companies, who are the developers. Bella Cafe & Grille recently opened second location. And new-to-Kentucky chain Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar will open its first Kentucky location in the former Masonic lodge on Harrodsburg Road that is part of the property.

What will be on Omakase’s menu?

Restaurant owner Guang Ni said he hopes to open the new restaurant in May 2024. His first Omakase location was in the former Tomo location, which closed in 2021 after 20 years ans was Lexington’s oldest sushi-only restaurant.

“After huge welcome from Chevy Chase and the whole Lexington Community for Omakase Sushi & Sake Bar. We are opening a second location at the Fountain of Palomar to serve south side of the city and the surrounding town,” he said in an email.

“The sushi menu is going to be same/similar as Chevy Chase location with additional of kitchen appetizers and entrees featuring grill seafood and steak using Japanese ingredients.”
